Cadence On-Line Documentation

The Cadence on-line documentation is available by typing "cdsdoc" at the unix command line. The Cadence software is divided into several different bundles and you can see the documentation for only one bundle at a time. To be able to see the documentation for all bundles, copy the cdsdoc.ini file as follows.

cp /app1/cadence/.cdsdoc/cdsdoc.ini ~/.cdsdoc

Click on the "Active Document Hierarchy" at the top of the cdsdoc window and select the software bundle documentation that you want to view.

The cdsdoc window gives links to the documentation on software and tutorials. Most Cadence on-line documentation is available in html format which can be viewed with the netscape browser on tesla. The cdsdoc program starts a mini-web server that is only capable of serving one user at a time. Since tesla is not a web server, browsers running on other machines cannot access the documentation.

If someone else is already using cdsdoc, you can run netscape on tesla to directly view the documentation. Set your browser URL to

file:/app1/cadence/???/doc

where ??? is ic, dsmse, ldv, spr, spw or vcc. Not all the Cadence software has browser compatible documentation available. You can browse through the software documentation directories for documentation in other formats.
